Japan shines a spotlight on some of the most incredible world record holders from the nation.
Twenty-three-year-old Ayumi Sakamaki and the Double Dutch team Diana of Toride in Japan recently set the record for the most double Dutch-style skips in 30 seconds at 129, according to the Guinness World Records. The skipping method involves a person jumping two long jump ropes turning in opposite directions simultaneously.
Quick-footed Ayumi Sakamaki moved so fast over the two ropes that Guinness World Records adjudicator Kaoru Ishikawa was required to examine slow-motion footage of the attempt before confirming the record.
To successfully achieve this title, each skip counted towards the final total had to include a full 360 degree revolution of both skipping ropes.
“We have been dreaming of becoming Guinness World Records title holders, so we are really happy. But from now on I want to make sure that we act as Guinness World Records title holders and inspire other people, ” Ayumi said.
Team Diana has been through numerous competitions before gaining this title and the dedication and truly enjoying what they love makes the difference. It’s not hard to see from the smiles they have on the photos of their Facebook fans page.
