The Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim is the 6th President of Malaysian Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) after his rival Tan Sri Annuar Musa pulled out of the two-horse race in a shock announcement on Thursday.
The 51st FAM Congress will be held at the PJ Hilton tomorrow 25th March to elect the new office bearers for the 2017-2021 term. Annuar said, he believed, Tunku Ismail should be given the opportunity to do something for football in Malaysia and delivered on his promise after the owner of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) announced the manifesto of 11 things that will be done if the FAM president.
Tunku Ismail said a total revamp was needed in the FAM due to lack of professionalism, poor management of funds, integrity issues, lack of passion, claims of corruption and biased treatment.
“My main focus will be to increase the commercial value of the Super League and Premier League, development of football, adopts a global approach in developing football, and improves the quality of refereeing and facilities. The structure of the senior national squad will also be reviewed,” said TMJ in the Facebook posting.
The commitment and dedication shown TMJ can be an important asset FAM. The support and consent of His Majesty the Sultan of Johor is a tribute to the Malaysian football. All the best TMJ.
